Religious symbols transcend religion and If I wasn’t a teacher I’d be a gangsta rapper shirt, where they have meaning distinct from what they symbolize. Maybe it's appropriation, maybe not. As long as Christianity has high numbers and worldwide political power, I don't see people being offended.
