As I read your words in a church in front of the students and the other teachers, my voice cracked, my heart started pounding, and I had a terrifying few seconds when I couldn’t speak. And I was botching it. But, thankfully, my heart slowed and my voice came back. I finished reading your story. My hope is that they were as moved by it as I was. That, through your story, they better-understood grace and the mercy of God. The biggest jolt came with the words the memory of hope. I remember moments in my life when the glimmer of hope would shine through.
