His surgery was a Tracheal Diversion which separates Ballet it’s the most wonderful time of the year shirt, sweater from your breathing tube and makes it only possible to breathe out of a trachea. He had this because when he would swallow, the little valve that controls where the air goes and where food goes was paralyzed. So every time he swallowed, his saliva would fall into his lungs and cause allot of bacteria and pneumonia. Pneumonia causes a large percentage of death in patients who are ventilated. And he had it approximately 9 times! Scary and depressing. But we solved it with the surgery. Which is awesome!
