A dozen or so have told me that the escapism my work provided was a critical factor when they were considering suicide. Cause, you know, I don’t know them. I wasn’t thinking of them when I wrote it, beyond, oh the readers are going to hate me for this. It’s not that I wish them ill or anything, I just don’t know them. So it happened by accident.
